Evaluation Process
The aim of the project MODIP
(Quality Assurance Unit) of
Harokopio
University is to establish
the necessary framework for a lifelong, reliable and
academic assessment of the provided quality in
education. This can be achieved through systematic
data collection and processing. Infrastructure
quality check, and course and tutor / professor
assessment was carried out through the distribution
of printed questionnaires. Within the MODIP project,
the latter practice was replaced by sending out e –
questionnaires on an online platform. It is for this
purpose that an Information System was developed
which supports not only the complete assessment
process of data collection and
analysis but also the electronic collection of
initial data on an online platform. This Information
System supported by free software has been installed
in the Network Centre equipment of the Institution
and backs up MODIP project as well as OMEA, in all
four departments of Harokopio.
Within
the framework of MODIP project, the computer - based
assessment process was launched in 2011-12 in the
Department of Informatics & Telematics, on a pilot
basis. The same process was fully applied in the
rest of the departments, during the same academic
year. It is worth mentioning that within the context
of computer – based assessment, students
participated in the process by filling in an
anonymous pilot computer – based version for course
assessment. According to research results, 85% of
the subjects agreed on computer – based course
assessment. During this process, carried out the
Spring Semester 2011 – 12 until now (ac. year
2012-13), it may be observed that student
participation concerning computer – based course
assessment has been quite satisfactory, with
percentages ranging between 17% to 90% per course.
This percentage refers to the number of students who
participated in the project in comparison with
those who formally registered
per year. In an effort to evaluate the adoption of
course / tutor computer-based assessment, the number
of students participating in the project has been
exceptionally encouraging for its establishment.
This
computer-based process developed and used on a pilot
basis for the successful completion of the
assessment questionnaires has provided its users the
following services:
1.
Anonymity
through random generation of coupons for each user
and automatic e - mail acknowledgement.
2·
The save
and fill-in later option
3. The
opportunity of logging out and saving data.
